Workers at Grenoble’s Inovallée technology park relied on shared buses, canteens and events, but the information about them was spread across separate organisations. The park needed one real-time channel that brought these services together and gave it a direct line to its workforce.

Description of the Challenge

Context

Inovallée is a technology park on the north-eastern edge of Grenoble, covering Meylan and Montbonnot-Saint-Martin. It is home to over 360 companies and about 11,000 employees, most of whom commute in each day rather than live on site.

Specific problem

Employees share buses, canteens, parking and events, but no single organisation is responsible for them. The metropolitan authority publishes bus schedules, the catering company posts lunch menus and the park association lists events, yet no one brings this information together.

Current situation and gap

The information already exists in separate databases, but park users cannot reach it when they need it. Park staff spend significant time answering routine questions about transport, menus and companies, and the park has no direct way to communicate with the people working on site.

Expected Outcomes

Specific need

The park needs a single, real-time interface that aggregates transport, catering, events, news and company information from different providers, without a custom integration for each source.

Expected outcome

– One personalised app for transport, menus, events, news and the company directory
– A direct communication channel between the park and its workforce
– Less staff time spent on routine questions
– Evidence that a smart city data platform can serve a defined community as well as a whole city

Space for Solutions and Experimentation

The Inovallée technology park offers a defined experimentation space: around 360 companies and 11,000 employees with clear daily needs. Grenoble-Alpes Métropole provides access to Métromobilité transport data, and the park association can host and operate solutions for its users.
