What if cities could predict climate risks before they happen? How can digital twins help make cities more resilient to climate change? Meet the SCEWC26 speakers who will answer these questions in Barcelona.
Join us at Smart City Expo World Congress 2026 (#SCEWC26) in Barcelona, where we will discuss Digital Twins for Climate Resilience in Cities.

Digital Twins for Climate Resilience in Cities
When: Thursday 5 November 2026
Time: 12:20–13:05
Where: AI X Cities Stage, Smart City Expo World Congress, Fira Barcelona
Why digital twins matter for climate resilience
Heatwaves, floods and droughts already test city infrastructure every year. However, many cities still plan their response after the damage happens. Digital twins can change this. For example, by combining Earth observation, sensor data and urban models, they let cities simulate climate scenarios, spot vulnerable areas and compare adaptation options before they invest.
In this session, cities from Spain and Italy will share how they use these tools in practice. As a result, you will hear what works, what remains difficult and how other cities can follow the same path.
